Spring is finally here and with it, warmer weather.
With warmer weather comes new opportunities. So why not make the most of it and throw an outdoor children’s party?
Outdoor parties allow for all kinds of party games and decorations that you might not be able to get inside! With far less things to stain or break and less mess from spills what is there not to love!? But, of course, there are other things to consider, so here's how to throw an amazing outdoor children's birthday party!
1. The Venue!
First things first, you've got to choose a venue. This can be your back garden, the park, the beach (depending on where you live) or otherwise, but be aware that you may need permission to set up on land that isn't your own! Check all local laws before moving forward - you don’t want anyone ruining your fun!
2. Risk Assessment
Next you’ve got to check out the venue and assess any possible risks - this part can be boring, but it is important!
If there are any bodies of water, even little pools and ponds, they may need to be covered. Any drops or holes covered over as well. Take into account the age of the children and what is safe for them.
Things that might seem insignificant to you could pose massive risks and no one wants to end a party with a trip to the emergency room!
Now that the boring bits are out of the way, we can start to plan our party!
3. The theme
As with any other children’s birthday, or any other birthday party for that matter, we need to start with a theme! If you're stumped for ideas, check out our selection of party supplies here, or take a look at some of our Pinterest boards for inspiration!
Once you have a theme, it's time to think about party decorations. Don't forget to Carefully consider what you need for an outside party - for instance, if you use helium balloons, you're going to need a weight to hold them down, which you might not need indoors. You may also need lights, depending on the time of day, and some form of cover in case of rain. It is still spring, after all!
Just a few things you might need; Tablecloths, plates, party hats & balloons! We suggest checking out the supplies we have on offer here.
4.Next up.. THE FOOD!
On top of the cake, you have to get party food. With you not having to worry about messy children staining the carpet, feel free to get as creative as you like! Ice creams and fruit lollies are a favourite for outdoor parties - so long as you can keep the wasps away!
Speaking of insects, it may be best to get a cover for the food, to keep off any unwanted guests - insects, or nosy fingers!
5. The entertainment
Now for the activities! Being outside, you can have a lot more fun - without the expense of ruined furniture! Along with regular sports and ball games that you'd rather the kids didn't play inside, anything with water or paint can be great fun for children of all ages! Why not try your hand as making huge bubbles for the children to pop or setting up a water gun fight?
Finally… don't forget to have a backup plan! If all goes well, you'll have an amazing party, but if the world decides to rain on your parade (quite literally), you don't want all of your hard work to go to waste!
