Father’s day is not too far away now and whilst the majority of us choose to celebrate it, most of us do not know about it’s origins or history, so here’s five fun facts for father’s day!

Father’s Day was invented by Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, an American whose veteran father raised six children on his own.

The first Father’s day was said to have been celebrated on the 19th June 1910

The traditional flower for Father’s day is a Rose. Wearing a white rose is meant to honour a dad who has passed away whilst wearing a red one represents a dad who is still with us. Flowers are usually bought on Mothers day, but if you’re stuck for gift ideas this Fathers day, go ahead and buy him a bunch of roses.
