5 step DIY Confetti Balloons

5 step DIY Confetti Balloons

Confetti balloons add flare to any party decoration set up (we like to throw them in anywhere we can) and they’re very easy to make. If you’re feeling a bit crafty and have some spare balloons on hand, all you need is;

  • Coloured paper or glitter
  • Clear or translucent balloons
  • A cloth
  • Helium (optional)
  • Ribbon (optional)

Here is how you make your own confetti balloons;

Cut or tear up your paper into little pieces

Uniform shapes look neater e.g all circles or all squares.

Put the torn paper or glitter in your balloon

If your balloon has a tight neck, put one finger inside with one hand and pull the neck open with another. Slip a second finger into the balloon and hold your fingers apart, giving you room to drop the confetti in.

Deflated balloons

Blow up your balloon using helium or air

If you’re using paper, depending on the paperweight, the balloons might be too heavy for the helium to work.

Fasten balloon with a knot

Fasten your balloon with a knot and if you used helium to fill it, it's probably a good idea to attach some ribbon and a balloon weight.

If you used glitter for your confetti, rub the balloon with a dry cloth (or against your hair) the static will help the confetti to stick.

And there you have it! DIY confetti balloons - this also makes a great craft activity for the little ones if you’ve got some spare balloons on hand.
