So you’re considering throwing a gender reveal party? Well here’s a few things you should consider before making your decision.
Is the sex of your baby being revealed to you too?
If you don’t know the sex of your baby and want to find out at the same time as your guests there’s a few things you should do.
- At your measuring scans be sure to let the nurse know you don’t want to know the gender before they begin! Sometimes the nurses slip up and let the cat out of the bag before you get a chance to make your preference known.
- Ask the nurse to write the gender down on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope - Remember to take a piece of paper and an envelope.
- Choose a trustworthy person to organise your gender reveal party, or at least the item which will reveal the gender i.e the cake or the balloon
- Give your trustworthy pal the envelope and leave them to organise the rest.
How are you going to reveal the gender?
Do you want a cake? A balloon? A cannon? There are so many creative ways to reveal your baby’s sex.
If you’re having a smaller affair then perhaps some cupcakes with colour specific fillings is the way to go. Have all your guests take a bite at the same time and the sex will be revealed when they take a look at what’s inside.

or perhaps you want to make a show of it, well gender reveal balloons and cannons are pretty dramatic!
Are you going to host an event solely for the gender reveal?
Being pregnant is an exciting time but sometimes we forget that the people around us aren’t pregnant and so having to attend multiple events for one (or multiple) unborn babies can become a drag (sorry to say). So, ask yourself, am I going to throw a gender reveal party which will cost both me and my friends money or can I do my gender reveal at say, my baby shower?
If you’re not organising your own baby shower then make your friends and family aware that you would also like to implement your sex announcement.

What’s the theme going to be?
If you do decide to have a gender reveal party separate from your baby shower then you should consider a theme.
Check out some of the themes we love the most here!

What else will you do at your gender reveal party?
No one likes to leave their house for not much and although your baby is the most important thing to you, your guests might not entirely feel the same way therefore you should have a small itinerary of things your guests will do at the party.
Hopefully these questions have helped you come to a decision about whether or not to throw a gender reveal party, if they have why not also share with your parent-to-be friends and at the same time follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
